Zambia: Don't ignore the children of sex workers
From Irin News LUSAKA, 10 January 2011 – At an increased risk of HIV and often unable to negotiate safe sex with clients, sex workers have been a major focus in HIV prevention and treatment. However, away from the streets and brothels, their children have been largely ignored.

Now if I’ve ever read a tear-jerker, this story is one to say the least! Here is a touching story about a 10-year-old boy with a rare, and terminal type of cancer. Read about his battle and how, after being given just weeks to live, had his greatest dream come true! To read the full story click on the link below:
Update: Hungry minds, hungry bellies
Well, as we are looking ahead to what’s next for us at Father’s Heart, one exciting new endeavor we will be campaigning is for the Shantumbu preschool that Tom and Joe visited back in February.
I remember being so touched when Tom posted an update on Facebook while he was there, “Well, Joe and I went to a village outside of Lusaka. Four wheel all the way. Breaks my heart to see these little children. One little girl was so small and was nodding out because of hunger. Lots of congestion and stuff. This was a little preschool with 25 little 4 year olds and then some 1st graders. In school but hungry.”
An Update from Tom Griner
Dear friends,
Joe Rousek and I just returned from Africa. While there we got a lot of administration things accomplished and checked on the Father’s Heart child sponsorship program first hand. We were both excited to see that the program is running efficiently and that the children are prospering. Pastor Ernest from the Living Hope School showed us the test scores of the children and they are consistently scoring higher than the national average.

“Are the children eating at home or only at school?” I asked Pastor Earnest, as I stood and watched four hundred children lined up, talking, laughing, and waiting in line for lunch at a Father’s Heart school. Earnest replied, “Let me bring a child so you can meet with him, so you can understand the type of children that we are ministering to.” He returned with a thirteen year old boy named Mysakile Simata.
